About Us

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer Pritchard and I am the owner and sole photographer at Capture the Moment Photography here in Wichita, KS. I started a blog over at wordpress too, but I like google a bit more and decided to move home to "Blogger" and see how blogspot treats me!. For those of you who don't know me already, I am 30 years old going on 21 again this year on December 7th. I have two wonderful kids, both boys, ages 2 years (Oct 27th, in two weeks, he's close enough), and 12 years (Nov 9, 3 weeks, close enough lol). Both are mean, hyper, and all boy which is why I love them with all my heard.

I am engaged to my high school sweetheart, who just so happens to be a Graphic Designer. We are a match made in heaven so to speak. I certainly use his skills whenever possible. He teaches me a lot about logo's and brand identities, and in fact created Capture the Moment's Brand Identity. I in fact, love our logo and design. I think it suits this business very well, and captured my moment! He took everything I described and made it all into this neat and colorful logo.

Anyway, moving on to about, well me! lol. More about me, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis back in May of 2008. I actually had to stop working my regular 9-5 job because of it and look for alternative ways to make money. I did photography all throughout high school and some of my college but never quite put the effort into buying the equipment because I just wasn't interested in investing in thousands in a custom darkroom. I had just had my first baby (the 12 year old) and I was starting college, along with a new job, so it wasn't a good time for me to start a new business and I couldn't afford all the film equipment. So as an alternative I jumped into web design and development. I went to Kaplan University, and finally Full Sail University and finished up with enough for two bachelor degree's according to Full Sail in Web Design and Development.

I quickly grew tired of web design though, my dream job was never sitting behind a computer. My dream job wasn't working for anyone else, and I wanted to retire young so I could enjoy my retirement, not be old and crippled when I finally did get to retire so I wasn't able to go anywhere. In the passing age of technology came some great accomplishments! First and foremost, a faster internet speed (THANK YOU), that really helped my downloading of certain products and services...no names.....

The 2nd greatest was EBAY. Thanks to whoever thought that up! Wish I could go back in time and invest more than just my spending money into Ebay and had bought a few shares of that! The 3rd greatest was Craigslist! Let me tell you now. I will post a blog on how to get your photography business started in under $2,000 in a seperate blog, but for now just know, I couldn't have done it wittout all those greatest things!

Moving on again, I got my equipment set up and I set about starting my business. I knew I could do this, I had the training, I knew how to use a camera, I just needed to redo my portfolio because all of my work was on negatives and I had lost the digitals that I had scanned into the computer long ago. I didn't want to do traditional film photography and I launched into digital. It's a hard market to get into. I have made some mistakes along the road but it seems like it's all working out ok for me now. I think the hard part is over.

Now it's moving on into the world of networking, marketing, and contest! LOL I love entering in competions. I am fixing to enter into one in a few days. That's all about me, and my company. I welcome you all to my blog and hope you find it inciteful and creative, and most of all that you will want to come back and keep reading every day!

We are working on getting our new website up and running so if you are interested in seeing my work before then, please visit us on facebook and like our page for a chance to win a free photoshoot! www.facebook.com/ctmfotography
